Rhythm of a trip in Vietnam…

It’s amazing to see things turning out as planned where rarely happened in my life, I have been very tired of making plan, they usually disappointed me. Weekend comes to an end, I finally found myself  today to be fulfilled in my plan, coming to Vietnam for my holiday…

I have planned to come over some places in Vietnam. Then I am now sitting in one of a cafe shop, HI-END. Nice place with great blue jazz music’s. I have a difficult time to find spare table in the shop, yes mostly table usually were taken and reserved…

I am actually get inspired and feel great for things happening during my trip.

I am very much grateful to my beloved friend, THANH, thank you very much for this lovely schedule trip and I am very appreciated for your kind contribution in fulfilling our dreams together, thought it’s coming true merrily…

02 November, 2006

I have counted down the days till 03 rd November, 2006, my departure date going to Vietnam, I had already applied for visa since last few weeks .

I was incredible busy before the day, more works stepped on me, tight me up continuously, I guess I would probably going to canceled the trip… fortunately I have done those stuff and got a bus ticket departure as expected, bus will departure at 05am.

I came home around 9pm. I would have gone for bed earlier as I was so tired. Still I couldn’t go to sleep early :).

03 November, 2006

I had fallen asleep at 12.30 am,  my alarm clock woke me up around at 3.30 am.  I rushed to check all my stuff that will be along with me during my long holiday.  I finalized all things by reaching the bus station at 4.30am. I felt  sleepy, so that I slept on the bus…

At 11pm I arrived Hochiminh, my friend came to pick me up. I was going to stay in the same hotel, it’s not very nice but not too bad, we can see good view from the window straight to wonderful gardens as well as there are many people walking along the street.

The garden near the hotel reminded me of My boss, I used to be told it’s a kissing garden, I am not sure if it’s the name of the garden.   We obviously can see many couples kissing in the garden at night, especially evening.

After check in the hotel I was really hungry, I and Thanh were walking to a restaurant which is not so far from hotel,  I chose the same place with same table as well as my seat but different time and different people where I used to come along with my boss last few months ago on a business trip, PHO restaurant.  I wanted to recall my old memories.  Sometimes thinking of old memories would make me smile, those cheer me up…, I saw many foreigners having PHO the way I did.  I do like PHO very much.

After finished lunch, I and my friend walking to a market which is near by the restaurant. We bought some Vietnamese sweets. I have also bought a set of white gold jewelry, I love to see pearls with white gold.  I’ll therefore wear this jewelry to attend my colleagues wedding party which going to be happened next week.

I have got a Vietnamese sim card number in order to stay connect with my work and my boss, I was afraid my boss is going to blame me as he’ll also come to Vietnam on 5th November in order to set up some business issue over the long holiday in Vietnam, I will have joined the meeting though.

I was so crazy with shopping, I got things I have wanted, so we decided to go back to hotel. On the way we were enjoy talking while we were walking passed the kissing garden, I was not dare to see thing happening, I was surprised in the daytimes . I occasionally took my glance straightly to garden, nice garden and I could smell so many kind of fragrances from many type of flower meanwhile I could see few couples were kissing… we was walking faster as Thanh needed to get home for preparing her exam at 6pm while I wanted to clean my body and relax a few minutes before it’s going to be dark…

I could not relax at all,  when I got my bedroom my phone were ringing, it was a phone call from my office… after finished talking with my boss I went to take shower. It was exactly at 4pm, I came down to check up my e-mail in internet shop next to hotel. I have done my work and chitchat with agents, and some friends of mine over the internet, I was telling them about my status in Vietnam.

It’s time 5.10pm, my phone were ringing again… it’s exact call from my other friend, her name Thanh, I wonder there are many Thanhs :p.s . She’s my good friend and agent in Vietnam, right now she coming up to my hotel in order to take me around and having dinner due broken promise with her in my 1st previous trip, which I had only few days maintaining only for work.

I didn’t realize she would take me to her office in this late evening, well… I was introduced to some of her colleagues and Mr. Minh, who is GM that I often talk on phone but never see his face in person, I did see him now. They are very friendly and showing me their warmest welcome, I feel very excited and surprised though, it happened unexpectedly but it was a moment to remember.

We left the office, me and Thanh went to a market, Diamond shopping center. Most of product in the market are from other countries and the price are expensive. We were walking and seeing around all shops. I bought nothing :).

We were going to have dinner at the same place that I love to have many foods, those foods we can see all kinds with their external kitchen in the restaurant… I love all foods there đŸ™‚

At 8.20pm I got back to my place, Thanh dropped me and she rushed to go home, she wanted me to see her lovely daughter… I was also curious how her cute daughter talk to me. I used to see her daughter’s portraits and I planned to see her in person though. I could not make time to complete all plans. Her house very far from my place,  so we understanding that we would have found another time…

I have been waiting for my friend an hour, she stood up with another 2 best friends of her, Vu and Van… we drove to a cafe shop, HI-END… there was no seat for us, I was so excited not only a cafe shop but also cafe internet, it was not bright enough to see people’s face, we were waiting a few minutes before they reserving seats for us. I was fallen in love with the shop, I found where I wanna come,   it was a great moment I’ve ever met, we having chitchat and drink soft drink, I love to drink coffee in Vietnam, the cafe shop has been equipped with wireless internet and playing very nice music, I was attracted because most of the songs they play are oldies that re-composed to be in jazz rhythm, I love jazz and oldies….  well, it was so amazing and it was my first time listening to jazz music composed in Chinese songs, those lovely songs are my favorite’s.

We left few hours in the shop. I do love the songs they played in the night, I do love the moment we spend together. I thought I would find the music, owner of the shop recommended me to buy those songs in the other CD’s shop named, ONE UPON THE TIME, it was late at night now, so the CD’s shop had closed already. I decided to come again tomorrow to search for the songs I love in jazz music.

Van also love jazz music, she copied me many jazz’s songs in English, Chinese and French. It was a time I met another good friend, she’s a very romantic woman though… loz

We didn’t want to leave the cafe shop, it was middle of the night that everyone must feel sleepy. Van’s mom keep calling her to be back home, so she left us earlier. We were, me Thanh and Vu spending another couple hours and left the shop to our place. I and Thanh coming back to hotel. We were fallen asleep at 4am, hahaha…

04 November, 2006

Good morning! I woke up at 7.45am in the morning, I saw Thanh was still snoring đŸ™‚ I took shower and dressed. We were going to have breakfast around 9am, it was a Vietnamese foods, afterward Thanh took me to the CD’s shop, ONE UPON THE TIME, we were searching songs I love, she help me to fine the songs…. oop! I gathered 6 CD’s, she also paid for me, Thank you very much Thanh, I think I owe you a lot, hope I’ll return you when you back to Cambodia…

Thanh needed to check her work and bring her clothes for a long trip with me, I suggested her to leave me alone in the cafe shop. I was enjoying the moment in the shop again, it was not at nighttime but at noontime, I was sitting alone next to the window which I could see people walking and driving along the street from outside look of the shop. Still my heart was beating when I heard those songs again.

I connected my laptop to wireless connection and called for a glass of coffee. I copied all songs from the CD’s I bought into my laptop,  I think it’s easy for me to bring them along… and carry on writing my diary… It was a time I have been writing a story about my trip…

I was addicted with things happening, it was so late at 3.50pm I have not had yet lunch, Thanh just came up to pick me for our lunch. We finished the foods in the same place that I had dinner with my other friend, the same name Thanh. Lunch & dinner, we called so many foods, I felt very full, my stomach also boom…

Actually, we changed our plan, instead to go to Dalat but going to Vuong Tau  this evening since 2 friends of Thanh have wanted to join the trip with us, Vu & Van.

In case they needed to come back to work on Monday, they couldn’t make the schedule going to Dalat due it takes 6 hours from Hochiminh to Dalat by bus. In order to make things easily, we chose to go to Vuong Tau together and shall take a night there.

After having lunch with Thanh, we planned to come over Van’s house all together in order to catch bus to Vuong tau at 7pm. When bus were arrived Vuong Tau at 9.30pm, we found a guest house not so far from the beach. We left our stuff in the guest house and we were walking to the beach. A long the way we found an ice-cream shop, there were so many people having ice-cream at night and some couple were having ice-cream.

I like ice-cream and Vietnamese yogurt, I stopped by a few minutes to buy ice-cream and yogurt, I think they were becoming to be my dinner… đŸ™‚ We carry on our walking as long as we arrived bank of the sea, we took some pictures. After few hours we walked to find a disco  club, we finally got into a club it was good enough to experience dancing music in the club, it was a good place not so noisy. We left a couple hours then walked back to hotel for sleeping…

Where Sihanouk Ville is…

SANY0047 Sihanouk Ville (also known as Kompong Som) is located in the southwest corner of Cambodia, 232km from Phnom Penh, that can be reached by national road no. 4. as Which is Cambodia’s only international port. It’s gradually being Redeveloped as a
tourist attraction. This coastal city is beautiful by white sand beaches that include O’chheuteal, Sokha, Pram Pi chan (7 temple hotel), Deum Chrey. These beaches are Known for their quiet, cozy atmospheare and the large stretches of white sand and Clear waters and these make them popular spots for families on
vacation. These Seaside paradises with the refreshing coolness of the fresh water stream can be enjoyed at year around.

Sihanouk ville is not a small place, and the best way to get around is to hire a motobike. Sihanouk Ville itself is east of the main backpackers’ beach and close to the more mid-range O’chheuteal beach. Due south of town is tiny Kosh pos beach, which has a solitary mid-range hotel, and the larger independence beach, which has the crumbling independence hotel – slated for redevelopment.

Although tourism has increased over the past few years, the beaches of Sihanouk Ville are some of most unspoiled in all of southeast Asia. It’s a perfect tropical getaway, filled with lovely beaches and facilities for swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving or just sunbathing. Actually, there are boat trips that also available
to many of the nearby islands. There are several hotels and local restaurants serving fresh, delicious seafood on the beach. On the weekend, there are many
visitors from Phnom Penh to relax, swimming and enjoy fresh seafood.
Desperately, I can’t help not to go there quite often, I love to see the sun sets over the sea as well as sitting on sandy beach, you can see the reflection of the sun glows on the water… and there more and more things that I love to go there, if you think that Phnom Penh is a noisy place then you can go to Sihanouk
Ville to find real silence with no air pollution.

94 Serendipity Beach, It’s the only beach in Sihanouk Ville to offer bungalows and guesthouse rooms right on the sand. This end of Ochheuteal was named (Serendipity Beach) two years ago. Over the past two years Serendipity’s population has grown exponentially, as have the number of bungalows, hotels and restaurants. To get to this beach follow Ekareach street straight through the Golden Lion traffic circle and up and over the hill.
Otres Beach, It’s the next beach south of Ochheuteal. It’s the twin sister of Ochheuteal, but is untouristed and often completely deserted save a few small houses at the near end. Otres villages and pagoda sit about 1km off the beach. A single road trace the beach’s 3km to a police post at the far end. To get there, either:

1) hike around the rocks at the far end of Ochheuteal. It’s the next beach south of Ochheuteal.

2) Take Omui st. Southeast about 4km to a fork and turn right. At the next opportunity take a left. It’s 2km to the beach.

3) Take 1 kanda st. almost to the end of Ochheuteal. Turn left and cross a crumbling wood bridge over the Chheuteal Creek. Go about 1km, turn right and continue another 2km to the beach. Sandy road.
Ream Beach, through not untouristed, the Ream Beach see far a fewer visitors than Sihanouk Ville beaches. Located in the Ream National park. Take route 4 to the Airport road 18km north of town. Turn right, go 9km to the ocean. The beach to the right is long and narrow and frequented more by fishermen than tourists. Behind beach to the right is mangrove swamp, which attracts a wide variety of tropical birds. The beaches to the left nearer the Naval Base now have a few vendors selling drinks and renting tubes. There is a small $5 per night guesthouse run by the National Park. Check at the park HQ opposite the entrance to the airport.

Ochheuteal beach, known as UNTAC beach in the early 1990s and it’s now the most popular in Sihanouk Ville, offering the full spectrum of beach venues from upscale hotels and dining to laid-back budget beach bars and bungalows. This beach is long, sandy and narrow, with ‘Serendipity beach’ at the northern end, a golf course development at the southern end, and a cluster of mid-range hotels and restaurants near the MP base in the middle. Grass umbrellas, rent able beach chairs and little drink huts line the beach from one end to the other. It offers several nice hotels including the seaside and crystal, the mid-range Holiday, as well as some of Sihanouk Ville’s better seafood restaurants, (Sea Dragon, Susadey, Sunshine and Les Feuilles), within walking distance of the hotels. Further south along the beach in front of the golf course development, a number of budget traveler/backpacker oriented bar/restaurant/beach hangouts have sprung up offering chairs, umbrellas, drinks and a chill-out atmosphere.

Independence beach gets its name from the deserted hulk of the 7-storey independence Hotel at the north end. Located call this beach ‘Otel Bram-Pi chann( hotel 7-stories). It’s labeled ‘7-chann beach’ on the in-town street sign. Independence is more than a kilometer long, but the sandy area is much narrower making the beach best when the tide is low. The beach is wider and more tourists toward the northwest end near a small fresh water lake (which is the source of the town’s fresh water and rumored to contain crocodile). At the other end is the beach’s only hotel, Sea breeze. Grass umbrellas and drink vendors only hotel, Sea breeze. Grass umbrellas and drink vendors now line the beach from end to end but it’s still much less frequented than other beaches. The road up to the old Independence Hotel is often frequented by small troop of Rhesus monkeys but is currently closed while the hotel in undergoing renovation.

Sokha beach, Big charges, Occupying all of Sokha beach, the new Sokha beach Resort, Sihanouk Ville’s first full resort complex has just opened offering upscale accommodation, restaurants, all sorts water sports, tennis and more. This beach is about 1kilometer long and comparatively wide so that there is plenty of sand left during high tide. The beach is bounded at either end by rocky points that snorkelers and divers find inviting.
