GoGreen wins international environment prize
Deutsche Post DHL won third place in the international environmental competition ÖkoGlobe (Eco Globe) 2010. GoGreen was honored in the category of mobility projects and vision.
The jury was very clear about the reason for their decision: “The GoGreen program from Deutsche Post DHL is an integrated approach to improving energy efficiency in the logistics industry.” According to the jury, the company has recognized the significance of climate protection and their own responsibility in this matter. Not only does the environment benefit from Deutsche Post DHL environmental projects, but also humanity in general.
More than 100 entries were submitted from small companies through to major mobility service providers. A six-person jury composed of scientists, artists, politicians and managers selected winners in ten categories.
ÖkoGlobe is a joint initiative by German artist HA Schult, the insurance company DEVK Versicherung Cologne, the automobile club ACV (Automobil-Club Verkehr) and the research institute CAR (Center Automotive Research) at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Environment Minister Norbert Röttgen awarded the prizes on September 7 in Cologne.
The award underscores the high level of environmental awareness at Deutsche Post DHL. “The fact that GoGreen won third place shows that we are on the right path to logistics that are more environmentally-friendly and even more efficient,” said Katharina Tomoff, Vice President of GoGreen.
